“In the end, all will be well. And if it’s not well, it’s not the end”
This is a variation of a quote attributed to Brazilian writer, Paolo Coelho.
Often when we receive bad news, it can be easy to dwell on the negatives. I, for one, tend to ruminate on worse possible outcomes. Whether that comes from being a chef for twenty years, I don’t know but for my job you need to be able to do that to be prepared.
However, when it comes to life and my well being, I think I need to find hope and solace in the above quote. Receiving the news of my cancer, sure a lot of ‘worse possible outcomes’ enter my mind. They always came when I was staring at a ceiling, whether that be in theatre, or getting CAT or PET scans. I suppose it was the overwhelming sense of feeling alone in those situations.
Generally though, with the staging of my cancer and the reassurance of doctors, I have know in the end all will be well.
